Paul grew up in Elizabeth City, attended public school and graduated from Northeastern High School in 1987. He attended East Carolina University and then ECU School of Medicine (Brody School of Medicine). He was awarded the Health Profession Scholarship Program with United States Air Force. After becoming a physician, he continued his specialty medical training at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina where he became an Obstetrician/Gynecologist 2002.
Paul then went into active duty with the United State Air Force. He was assigned to the 99th Air Base Wing, Medical Operations Squadron at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, NV and rose to the rank of Major. He received the Air Force Recognition Ribbon and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.
In 2005, Paul returned to his hometown to practice medicine and joined Northeastern OB/GYN LTD. He was immediately immersed in the community by his family and friends. Paul and his wife Kristie, also from Pasquotank County, raised their family in Elizabeth City. Their four children have attended JC Sawyer Elementary School, River Road Middle School, New Life Academy, Northeastern High School, and Northeast Academy for Aerospace and Advance Technologies (NEAAT). Paul and Kristie are Christians and are active members in the Church of the Redeemer.
Professionally Paul continues to have a successful career. He has merged Northeastern OB/GYN LTD. with TotalCare for Women. Now he and his four new partners have offices in Elizabeth City, Moyock, Chesapeake, and Virginia Beach. They have over 30 employees and continue to grow. Paul has served on numerous hospital committees including: Medical Executive Committee, Peer Review Committee, By-Law Committee, and Physician Excellence Committee. Paul is the current Vice-Chief of the OB/GYN department at Chesapeake Regional Health Care. He has also served as the Medical Director of Women’s Services at the Pasquotank County Health Department where he provided patient care and supervision to nurse practitioners.
Recently Paul was approached by concerned citizens and encouraged to run for County Commissioner of the Northern Inside District of Pasquotank County. It is time for a new perspective. It is time for a change. He is running for the CommUnity, with emphasis on Education, Public Safety, Business Growth, Taxes and Spending and Opportunity for all to prosper.
